Emilyann Marsh

Type of role: I am looking to continue using my immersive knowledge for social good, as a production coordinator, a project manager, or a similar role.

Experience: Emilyann graduated from UNCSA in 2020, double majoring in picture & sound editing and immersive entertainment. In the beginning of her career, she was a Production Assistant on a Motion Capture set in England before switching over to remote positions. She has worked on a theatrical immersive experience that won the category of ‘best VR experience’ in the Venice Film Festival. Emilyann later earned her name in four Marvel movie credits as a Production Coordinator, as seen on her IMDB page. Once COVID started to slow down a bit, Emilyann took an in-person job in New York City as an Associate Producer. She worked on several commercials, including one for the Super Bowl, and a few tv episodes, that were worked on a MoCap set and an LED screen. Ever since 2017, Emilyann has worked part-time as an Executive Administrator for a company that creates VR experiences around social-justice issues. One of the experiences circles around the topic of Human Trafficking Awareness, and has even won a category in the Cannes film festival! She is looking to continue using her immersive knowledge for social good, as a production coordinator, a project manager, or a similar role.

Corey Goldstein

Johnathan Sutherlin

Juliana Silva

Type of role: Design. I am looking to design projects that bridge my VR/AR capabilities with my love of storytelling.

Experience: I recently graduated with an MA in Virtual and Augmented Reality from Goldsmiths, University of London where I gained proficiency in programs such as Unity, Spark AR, and Maya. My work includes a narrative branching game, a face filter celebrating my Colombian heritage, and an immersive storytelling murder mystery game, among others.

Nikunj Sethi

Type of role: Unity XR Developer. I am looking to leverage my expertise in Unity XR development, VR and AR projects, C# programming, and multiplayer SDKs to contribute to innovative projects within your team. Additionally, I aim to continue creating compelling virtual environments that fully immerse users and contribute to the advancement of VR and AR technologies.

Experience: I have over 3 years of experience in the XR industry, specializing in VR and AR projects, C# programming, and multiplayer SDKs. One of my proudest achievements was designing and developing "EIR Rehabilitation," a research project I conducted in collaboration with Valkyrie Industries, London. The aim of this prototype was to investigate whether the integration of Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) with Virtual Reality (VR) would lead to increased strength and enhanced overall motor recovery when compared to traditional rehabilitation methods. After conducting tests at the Physiotherapy Department of King's College, London, we concluded that the integration of EMS and VR holds substantial promise for rehabilitation, and EMS can be recognized as a supportive tool for individuals with significant weakness.

Astha Kapila

Shuai Xu

Type of role: XR Unity Developer, User experience designer for a game.

Experience: I set up an AR demo in Unity for offloading Machine Learning Inference. The general workflow could send video stream in AR glass to a server which processed it and sent metadata back to implement object detection. I also did an AR keyboard demo based on the SDK from Crunchfish Company. Finally, I completed the VR experience of releasing people's negative emotions through VR. It restored the main celebrations on Ivan Kupala Night festival.

Anush Ghazaryan

Type of role: AR/VR developer.

Experience: Being interested in innovative solutions, my groupmate and I developed an AR application for virtually trying on eyeglasses as our thesis project during our bachelors in Computer Science. In our application, we provide a list of glasses that the user can try on. Moreover, I took a game development course as my track elective and hence became familiar with Unity.

Arpana Nandakumar

Michael Anthony Abia

Type of role: Software Engineer, AR/VR/MR developer. Isabel Fitton

Type of role: User Research, Market Research, R&D. I am passionate about and actively seeking work within the human-computer interaction domain, understanding people, and using research to make positive changes and improve technology. I'm looking to apply my research skills in a fast-paced environment.

Experience: I am a driven PhD-level Researcher with a multidisciplinary background in Psychology and Human-Computer Interaction and 3+ years of experience conducting user-centred research on Virtual Reality Experiences in collaboration with PwC. Skilled in conceptualization, design, and implementation of mixed-methods research with excellent organization and leadership skills. I have designed, developed, and tested VR training applications with 200+ users, engaged with stakeholders across the industry, and presented my findings at leading international conferences. Isabelle Verhulst

Type of role: PostDoc Researcher (XR / UX). I am looking for a PostDoc or similar research role in psychology and immersive technology. This could be 'for good', for example, how immersive tech or gaming can be used to help people with their mental health, or for fun (leisure, entertainment). Ideally in academia, or in industry. Timing from ~September 2024.

Experience: I have 20 years experience in consumer marketing and new product development in global FMCG, and more recently psychology research and work experience in academia (and NHS). Marinda Botha

Type of role: Writer, educator, user-testing. I’m based in South Africa and looking for a remote position within the XR industries, where I can utilize my five years of performance experience in VR, my research in storytelling for VR, and years in tertiary education. I do sensitivity readings and script analysis. I’m also interested in curriculum development/adaptation for VR. I can perform user testing/QnA on VR products.

Experience: I am a seasoned professional with varied interests and skills. I currently work in the following fields: education, VR, writing and performance. For the past 15 years I have been a lecturer at an art & film college in South Africa. During this period I have: created and taught a three-year acting degree, taught Stop Motion Animation and puppetry, Voice Over technique and Creativity Development, as well as more fundamental subjects (Visual Literacy and Academic Skills). I hold a Master’s degree in English, researching Storytelling for Virtual Reality. Medium articles are available where I discuss the performer’s process of working in live, immersive VR experiences. I am part of a New York-based company, The MetaMovie, that does live theatrical shows in Virtual Reality. I have performed with the company for 5 years, working remotely from South Africa. I have written about live, immersive theatre in VR for XRMust magazine. I’ve dabbled in Conversational Design, writing dialogue for chatbots and assisting with prototypes for two US-based companies. My training is in literature, theatre, voice overs, puppetry and general creativity. I lived in London, UK for 8 years before returning to my native South Africa. I am based in Cape Town.
