Understanding the success of the Apple Vision Pro's app store
The Immersive Wire - 12 February 2024 (Monday Briefing)

Executive summary
Welcome to your weekly briefing on the metaverse and spatial computing. Here are your snippets to sound smarter in meetings this week:
EXCLUSIVE: What are the download figures of Apple Vision Pro apps? (full analysis here, and a snippet below).
Conversation-starter: Fools using Apple Vision Pros in cars stirred a call for bans.
Candidates board: Candidates still available for hire.
Other stories: Venice Film Festival opened submissions for immersive films, Windows Mixed Reality is no longer supported by Microsoft, and atmoky released a spatial audio plugin for Unity (more stories below).
I am knee-deep into my ramen phase. Any Londoners recommend any good eateries in city? If yes, ping me a note.
Analysis
EXCLUSIVE: Apple Vision Pro apps are seeing a wide variety of download figures.
Who was the highest? The highest I have seen was from JigSpace.
Most were below 1000 downloads. Zenitizer, a meditation app, received 600 downloads as of 11 February, with other developers anonymously detailing how they reached the hundreds rather than thousands — though some were lower.
Is it too early to look now? I believe that early signals may compound in the future, so it's worth exploring the strengths and weaknesses of launch-day applications.
