UK schools turn to VR headsets to tackle rising pupil stress and behaviour challenges.
What is it? The system typically involves short, immersive 7-minute sessions designed to calm students and help them re-enter learning more effectively.
Why? Growing mental health pressures in schools and overstretched NHS child and adolescent mental health services, prompting schools to explore faster (and lower-cost) interventions. These pilots are also being evaluated for their impact on attendance, behaviour, and classroom disruption.

Immersive Tech Week is an annual XR and immersive technology event in Rotterdam taking place from 1-3 December 2026, bringing together industry leaders, creators and researchers across VR, AR and spatial computing.

Sheffield DocFest will present its Alternate Realities XR programme from 10-15 June, featuring immersive storytelling projects including Minecraft-based documentary experiences, transmedia installations and game-inspired performances exploring themes such as community, identity and resistance.
