Think of the findings as the 'robustness' of a metaverse experience. More showing which of the titles are the most developed, compared between them all.
The report used five key metrics of the assessment – Scale, Monetization, Entertainment, Interaction, and Technology – and the company found that Roblox won in both monetization and interaction, while also coming second for scale.
Is it all hype? Don Norbury, Head of Studio at Shrapnel said: “Rather than focusing on massive virtual land sales, brand launches or recreating the world we already live in, innovation in the metaverse must be driven by real utility and use cases that can transform user experience in the long-term."
Yuga Labs tested 4,500 concurrent players for its Otherside
A huge (if scripted) demo, using Improbable's technology and a range of partners to pull it off.
The demo showcases the tech problem of the metaverse. It needs a *lot* of computing power to pull off, and I am interested in seeing how many concurrent players it can handle over time. The tech challenge is much greater than most others with the metaverse.
Considering the $4bn valuation and hype behind it, its one to follow.
