  • London Event: The Immersive Wire is jointly hosting a networking event in London on 20 June. Come for free snacks and drinks, stay for good networking opportunities, and say hello to the London community.

  • Other stories: Virtuway offers webXR showrooms for anyone who requests one, and Mattercraft now supports real-time physics (more stories below).

Bodkin was not the best show. I thought an investigative journalist working with a true crime podcaster had potential; but it fell flat as the team explored the Emerald Isle.

Analysis

Google is getting geospatial AR later this year.

  • What is it? Think of it as a souped-up Google Maps when you take a peek at the service. The capability will be demoed in Singapore and Paris later this year.

  • Why is this important? Google also says it will lay the groundwork for the XR platform that it’s making in collab with Samsung and Qualcomm. Considering Google’s influence on services across mobile and the internet, the company may have a leg up in the years to come.
